Mark
Knoop has studied piano in Melbourne with Stephen McIntyre, and
in Europe with Herbert Henck and Peter Feuchtwanger. He is co-artistic
director of the Libra Ensemble, and has also performed with such
groups as ELISION, the Melbourne Symphony, Ensemble Modern and Ensemble
Offspring. He performs regularly as pianist and conductor, and has
given premieres of works by Chris Dench, Ben Marks, Adam Yee and
Matthew Shlomowitz.
Recent
performances have included the premiere of Chris Denchs solo piano
work The Hearts Algorithms, alongside the Boulez first piano
sonata and Michael Finnissys Recent Britain in the third
concert of Libras 2000 season. Other performances with Libra in
2000 included Messiaens Quartet for the End of Time, as
well as Varèses Octandre and Henzes Kammermusik
1958 as conductor.
