Julia
Ryder is a prize winning celloist with extensive national and international
experience in orchestral performance, recitals and recordings. Since
commencing her studies at the New South Wales Conservatorium of
Music, Julia has gone on to both tour and study in Europe; working
with orchestras both here and in the United Kingdom and Germany.
Julias
experience is wide and varied. She has worked with the Sydney String
Quartet, the Amadeus Quartet and the Quartetto di Beethoven di Roma.
She has also worked with the Sydney Symphony, the Elizabethan Trust
Orchestra (UK) and the Rheinische Kammerorchester. As a tutor, she
has worked with the Sydney Youth Chamber Orchestra, the Rheinische
Musikschule and at both the Universities of Melbourne and the University
of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK).
Julia
has sought to expand her musical horizons, working collaboratively
with composers from many backgrounds and traditions. She has appeared
in festivals in Italy, Sweden, Germany, the UK and Australia and
in the process, collaborating with the likes of Richard Barrett
and Michael Finnissy (UK), Clarence Barlow (India), Violetta Dinescu
(Romania), Morton Feldman (USA), Johannes Fretsch and Rolf Gehlhaar
(Germany) and Moya Henderson and Gerard Brophy (Australia), Olivier
Messiaen and Iannis Xenakis (France) and Kaija Saariaho (Finland).
